seraphic (adj) angelic; heavenly – The seraphic countenances of the little children caused him great joy.

fulsome (adj) excessively flattering; distastefully insincere – Everyone appreciates a compliment, but fulsome praise is disgusting.


furtive (adj) stealthy; secretive; sly; evasive – She caught him making furtive glances at her, but he would never look her in the eye.


futile (adj) without effect; ineffectual; useless – No matter how hard he tried, his efforts were futile.


gamut (n) entire range or extent of – He ran the gamut of crime before he was caught.
